sparrowflight sighed as he padded along the border with windclan, heading farther towards the shadowclan border. the brown tabby had found out he was demoted, right after he had been promoted to deputy. it bothered the tom, but yet it didn't. spar didn't quite know how to take it. all he knew was that he was ending all attempts to kindness. too many cats cared less about him, and he wouldn't be hurt any longer. the grim warrior would remain himself, not worrying about others. it was sad, really, but that's how things would be. |

The pure white she-cat had followed Sparrowflight's scent after the meeting, and though she had lost his trail, she could now see him through the trees. Padding up quietly, Lightskies felt a bit nervous. "Hi" she said, catching up to him, though she didn't go right up to him, only padding up to a few tail lengths away. "I'm sorry about your demotion" she said, trying to be careful about what she said, "I wanted to come see if you were alright." Did that make it sound as if she though he was weak? She shifted nervously, "in case you wanted any company."

the tom turned slightly, though not facing her. "thanks," he responded grimly. he noticed the she-cat out of the corner of his eye. she seemed somewhat attractive from this angle, though he shook the thought away almost immediately. she had taken his place as deputy. why should he be nice to her? but then again, she hadn't done anything wrong... she was only being kind. still... he was hesitant. sparrowflight wasn't the best with words, so he just remained silent. he took a seat, his back still to her, and stared on into shadowclan/windclan territory, separated by scent markers. |

"I don't know why he demoted you" Lightskies said, also taking a seat where she was. "If I did I would tell you, but I wish he hadn't" she mewed. She wasn't just saying that either, though being Evereststar's deputy was an honor, she loved her shaman duties, and being Snowpaw's mentor. She wasn't sure what to say either, but she tried to hide the slight look of worry on her face.

"it's fine. it's not your fault." sparrow said after a moment. he continued to stare beyond, though silently searched for words. he didn't know what to say, but his mind whirled with his thoughts upon the matter. soon, he began spitting them out. "and it's not necessarily evereststar's either, that he is selfish. he doesn't understand anyone else's feelings. why he keeps his reasons to himself, i do not know." he sighed. "it's wrong of him though, to promote some cat one day and then demote them the next. it's like throwing their hopes into a pile of fox-dung." |

Lightskies nodded, though Sparrow couldn't see. "It was wrong, I think he should have given his reasons, and it's not your fault either, your a great warrior you know" after saying this, she blushed slightly under her long white fur, realizing what she had said. She tried to think of something to say to move their conversation on, but she couldn't think of anything.

"at least someone thinks so." he said. "apparently i'm not needed here anymore." the brown tom turned away, the urge to run away beyond skyclan's territory surging through his veins. though he didn't move. something was keeping him here. |

Lightskies frowned, adding on to the expression of worry now creeping over her features. "What do yo mean your not needed? Of course you are!" she said, standing up. "Who cares about what Evereststar thinks about how fit you are to be deputy, your still one of the best warriors in Skyclan."

sparrow rose to his paws instantly, whipping around to face the she-cat. "it's not just evereststar, lightskies." he said, trying to keep calm. "i don't feel as though i'm needed anymore. i always try to offer advice, and instead i'm always rejected or pushed away. they wonder why i'm always so cold-hearted." he was looking into lightskies' eyes now, his gaze filled with sadness. |

Lightskies took a step back. She was shocked, partly because of Sparrowflight's sudden words, and partly because of his expression. "I didn't mean-" but she cut herself off. What could she say now? The damage had already been done. She looked at Sparrowflight for a moment, he seemed so sad, but she couldn't seem to do anything about it. Now she looked away, not able to meet his gaze anymore.

"i don't need you to tell me i'm one of the best warriors in skyclan. i already know that. but whether anyone else knows it or not, i don't know." he continued. he let his gaze sink to the ground, thinking a moment before he looked back up at the white she-cat. "i'm sorry, i don't mean to be telling you all this. it's just.... there's no one left to talk to."
